| bernal fights L.C. Davis in Iowa Josh Bernal fought a hard fight against newly signed Affliction fighter and former IFL superstar L.C. Davis. Conquest Fighting Championship, a new promotion in Des Moines Iowa hosted its first MMA card on Sept. 27. The card had 9 professional bouts that took place at the HyVee Hall Center downtown Des Moines. The promoter stated that it was hard for them to find anyone that would accept the challenge to fight Davis and were very surprised that Josh took the fight without hesitation. Well we know why, Josh is the man. He put up a great fight too. After the two touch gloves they entered a good exchange with Josh pressing LC to the cage. Josh clinched up and began with a few knees to the midsection of LC. LC soon gained under hooks and turned Josh into the cage at which time he through an inadvertent knee to the groin. Josh takes his time to regain composure after the blow and they begin exchanging punches once again. LC then catches Josh as he tries to throw a low kick and presses Josh against the fence. As Josh tries to cross face and get under hooks, LC takes Josh down with a double leg. The ground battle then begins. Josh does a good job of working his guards both half and full. LC works real hard to throw punches and elbows while trying to pass Josh's guard. LC is finally successful and passes Josh's guard to the side control. Josh scrambles from the side, to north-south, back to half, and back to side from the bottom. While trying to get the infamous "BT triangle", LC mounts Josh. After Josh works about 30 seconds blocking and moving from under LC's mount, the ref stops the fight. Josh pops up right away, disappointed as he realizes the fight is over just like that. No doubt had the fight gone out of the first round, Josh would have made it a serious war for LC. After the fight, LC let Josh know what a great fighter he is and that he's got what it takes to make it. Good job Josh, were proud of you here at K2L. We all live vicariously through you bro!
