In 2004, K2L started teaching Mixed Martial Arts and became home to many local fighters. 5 years later and with a successful program K2L is now known as The Grind House and focuses on taking fighters to the next level in the sport of MMA. We have had a great team for over 5 years getting many KC fighters experience in MMA but now K2L fighters are making it to the big stage! If you are ready to fight or just train to get in shape, K2L's Grind House is your place. For fighters, we offer management, coaching, conditioning, and MMA training in Muay Thai, Wrestling, BJJ, Boxing, and Traditional Martial Arts. Our trainers are fighters themselves. We teach it real because we will use the same techniques in our own fights. There's no pretend mma being taught in our gym. We don't pretend to offer rank in BJJ. We don't pretend to be a Kickboxing gym. We don't pretend to be a boxing gym. We are an MMA gym. Everything we teach is designed for MMA competition and self-defense. Many of our fighters cross train and compete in Boxing, Kickboxing, submission grappling, and traditional arts, but that's just for fun, money, and to stay in shape. Our goal is to become the best, most well rounded fighter gym in the city, and to be known nationally as the best gym putting out fighters in the midwest. The General Training for anyone: Great MMA and Self-defense conditioning classes are taught every night Monday- Thursday evenings. Students meet at either location and burn a minimum of 500 calories in our FitBoxing Classes! But this isn't just a fitness class like at local weight gyms. Students learn how to fight and protect themselves in the process. Our fighters are often seen in these classes working out along side kids, young teens, moms, dads, and traditional martial artists. Fighter Training: Those that want to compete in MMA competition, boxing, kickboxing, or submission grappling, K2L's Grind House is the only place to be. Fighters train up to 10 two hour sessions per week on conditioning, weights, sparring, grappling, wrestling, and mental preparation. Trainers/coaches Brian Davidson, Rob Kimmons, Farrin Ottis, Big Joe, Joe Moses Mitts, James Krause, and Eric Marriott, are always available to help you get your game to the next level. All of these guys either still fight now or have many fights in their careers. With manager and match maker Larry Reyes based out of our gym, fighters never have to worry about not having a fight. His job is to get you fights and keep you active. Larry is also match maker for several shows and is very well connected in the mma game. He is one of the best to get your career off the ground. Our trainers will have your working your weaknesses daily and when you prove to them you are ready Larry will get you a fight. Our training sessions are invite only so come in first and we'll get you a schedule set up. Once you become a Grind House sponsored fighter and you show you are working hard and prove yourself to your coaches, we will get you a fight. Once you have a fight on the books, your training camp will begin. In addition to the regular weekly training schedule you maintain, we will add many more sessions to your schedule. You will have sparring/grappling partners scheduled to be there just for you. No more hoping someone shows up for class your weight and skill level. You will work on what your coaches think you need for your up coming fight. Our goal is to make you the best you can be and get to the highest level possible. Private MMA: Sponsored Grind House fighters are available for Private or executive training sessions. MMA is extremely popular with men ages 18-50 however most men are focused on their careers, not becoming a fighter. Our executive programs are perfect for these people. New To MMA/ Want to Get Started? There are several gyms in KC to begin your MMA training. K2L offers the best training available for the beginner all the way to the pro. K2L strongly recommends you begin your training 2 days per week. From there we will expose you to more training as you progress. This will also allow you to see how far you want to take your training. Those with previous experience will be invited to train with the fighters and more frequently almost immediately.
